I dithered so much about whether I wanted to create a book mosaic for 2019. I first started the tradition in 2013 when I was reading about 25 books a year making it very easy for me to get individual book images and then create a collage. With my reading increasing quite rapidly since 2016, it has been a struggle for me to actually keep track of the books and then do the prep work for creating the mosaic.
Take this year’s mosaic for example. I read a total of 80 books (I was under the impression that I had read 79 up until I created the mosaic when I realised I had omitted one book- so I guess the mosaic has its benefits). But sourcing the images for the books, then making sure they were all the same format (I had to spend about 30 minutes manually tallying the books because my image software wouldn’t pick up some of the individual files). Totally I spent the better part of two hours just to create the mosaic. Of course a cummulative few hours in also tracking the reads.
I did give up filling out all the details in the Book Riot reading log sheet. Although a wonderful resource to analyse your reading habits, making sure I noted publisher, number of pages, date started/ finished and so on was just a bit too much for me.
Without further ado, here’s my mosaic
I hope that the titles are not too small for you to read. Leave a comment if anything isn’t clear.
Sci-fi/ Fantasy was once again the leading genre. I read all the books in Isaac Asimov’s Foundation Series, a lot of the books from the Ender Wiggins saga by Orson Scott Card and then Pierce Brown’s Red Rising series on audiobooks.
I also did read quite a bit of nonfiction. Mostly books on ancient history.
Nine books in French, two in Spanish and one book in Tamil. This needs some work.
So how many books did you read in 2019? Any favourites you’d like to recommend?
