D for Dawn

There are times when we absolutely do not look forward to day-break. Most often this is because there is something that is about to happen in the new day that we do not wish to face. During school, dawn was always that panicky moment when you knew for sure that you had run out of time to cram for the exam or finish working on a project. That happens a bit at work too but it’s different. It’s almost as if you were suddenly old enough to realise that the small worries of the day do not matter. What we must do is celebrate a new beginning and welcome it with open arms. This (apart from the fact that they are extremely photogenic) is why I love dawn and sunrises. Here’s a few pictures from a recent sunrise I captured at Pondicherry.

Beautiful sunrises! I love sunrises but I know what you mean about not wanting them to come for various reasons: usually mine is because I want more sleep… Thanks for sharing your gorgeous shots.

Thanks Michele for visiting my blog. Yes sleep is such a beautiful thing- it does take a lot of effort (esp when you’re on holiday) to say let me get out and go see something

Lovely shots. I think a sunrise over water is one of my favorite things to watch.

I can never get tired of sunrises. Each one is so different. The same goes for sunsets too but sunrises for obvious reasons are more cheery, sunsets – poignant.
