Terrace Views- Koel Story

The Koel is probably one of the most common birds in urban India- not many of us can claim to have never woken up to the sound of the “ku-oo, ku-oo” of the Koel (so much of popular culture revolves around this as well).

Anyway here’s a bunch of photos I shot of a Koel pair from my terrace. The female is quite an urban gal and decided to pose for me on a metallic structure rather than the tree in bright sunlight. Oh well!

Lovely pictures of the birds. Do people know that having koel chicks in their nest help crows and their chicks according to latest studies? So koels are not the villains. I like that!
