The Runner-Up

I actually wanted to write about a very special event but it is Monday and I am dog tired so I am officially being a chicken and getting out of posting a proper blog with a picture.

In some ways this photograph was more memorable for me than the one of the Indian Roller. One of the birds that you get to see in droves in Kanha are the peafowl. It is a pleasure to watch the feathers of the peacock catch the sun and glint in varied colours.

This particular peacock was standing on a small branch that had fallen on the ground and looking at everything around him (though steadily ignoring the safari jeep with the photographers). The way his tail had so nonchalantly fallen, slightly brushing and contrasting with the dried grass imprinted itself in my head very deeply. My image is but a poor capture of that ephemeral moment (before the peacock sqwaked and ran away that is…)

Enjoy!

Casually Beautiful

The picture is quite beautiful. I know of photographers who would have tweaked the same to make it look absolutely something out of a magazine. May be the photo does not live up to your standards of how it must be captured? or match the picture you have in your mind of that ephemeral moment?! πŸ™‚

Thanks Apar! I think I saw and experienced it more vividly. Can’t expect the pic to live up to it!

I feel it is an unusual picture. Like an ad for a saree draped against something. That is what it reminded me of.

      Interesting you thought of that!

it is so artlessly beautiful. I was thinking of a fabric (or someone’s gorgeous hair) against a background… very nice…
the peafowl definitely have a sense of style!!!

      Yep! They do, don’t they?

yep! yep!! some birds are born to style, some birds grow into style and some birds have style thrust upon them!!! πŸ™‚
