I saw this Kingfisher sitting on a dead tree branch by the side of the river watching out for fishes. Every 5 minutes or so it would make a twittering noise and then would dive into the water- presumably for a fish but almost always came out empty beaked- once again with a twitter.

It would dry in the sun for about 5 minutes and repeat the entire routine. I was getting very worried about its diet- I mean how much energy could this little bird afford to lose if it was no good at fishing.
No Good At Fishing?
Finally as though to comfort me, I finally managed to see the bird catch a fish in its beak (after it got a few tips from another bird). Phew!
